SEW EXPORT BUILDING f| IpTIVITY AT RECLAMATION I ' subsidiary units started f —/ Considerable activity is now apparent on the eastern reclamation near King's Wharf where the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, Limited, is making preparations for the construction of its nStff export butter store. When completed in about two years, the building wilFhave a capacity for storing 500,000 call butter, with a despatch of aboflt 2,000,000 boxes annually, and will be the largest store of its kind in the world. The manufacture and driving of piles is now in progress and the erection of theof two subsidiary buildings has already been started. This building, which is of a single storey, will cover an area approximately 180 ft. by 100 ft. A section, for which the brick walls are now constructed, will be the company's garns?> while other sections will house the ice-niaking plant, two ice storage rooms, and the chamber hands' change room. the engine-room will be constructed to the north of the first block. This will extend about. 40ft. beyond the present breastwork which will be extended to allow space for several sets of railway sidings. The butter store will be to the east of these structures. About 300 pile's for the two subsidiary buildings have already been driven. ; ( The entire project will require about 1400 piles and a start with driving larger ones for the main block will probably be made in a few,days. Actual construction work on this'building will begin in about two months. At present about 50 men are employed on the work.. For insulation purposes a large quantity of cork from Spain is required. In spiteiff the civil war in that country it ia"stated that no difficulty lias • been experienced in arranging for supplies. The cork will be brought to the Dominion by five steamers.
