FAMILY OF SIXTEEN

INTERESTING GATHERING CHANCE REUNION OF MEMBERS To have reared a family of 16 children, all of whom are living, is the distinction of Mrs. C. M. Upson, of 46 Seaview Road, Remuera, and an interesting gathering was held recently vrhen all the members of the family happened tp be in Auckland. The ages of the family rango from nine years upward and several are married with children of their own. Mi's. Upson/whose husband died nine years ago, three months after the arrival of their youngest son, is a native of ?ort Chalmers, Otago, where she was married and where all the children except tbr<*3 were born. Mr. Upson was from Essex, England, and in Port Chalmers and Auckland he hold a position in the Marine Department. The family came to Auckland about 17 years ago. Two of the live daughters are married and live in' Auckland. The youngest two sons are still at school and the older ones follow various occupations. Two have inherited their father's love of the sea, one being a seaman on board the Matua And the other, who is still a boy, has been on a small coastal vessel for about a month and is enjoying his experiences at sea. One of the older sons is in the Railway Department and is stationed at Dunedin, another is employed in the Post Office at Otahuhu, two are transport drivers and others are employed in the city "The reunion was quite accidental," said Mrs. Upson. "My two seafaring boys were in port at the same time and the other working at Dunedin was here on holiday."
