'ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME .REPRESENTATIVE FOOTBALL MAORIS DEFEAT AUCKLAND The efforts of the Auckland I{ugby League to organise an injured players' fund met with considerable success at Carlaw Park on Saturday, when a varied programme attracted a large crowd. The proceedings opened with a mock court. A burlesque football match followed, after which two leading Auckland teams provided an exhibition of American basketball. The main feature was the Rugby League repres'enativc football match between Auckland and a .Maori team, the latter securing a comfortable victory by 43 points to 21. The match provided a spectacular display, the Maoris in particular proving fine exponents of the code. During the afternoon trophies wore presented to J. Anderson (Marist) for the most points scored during the season, and to .J. Smith (.North Shore), who was runner-up. Five senior teams competed in a relay race, in which each runner carried a football. Marist narrowly defeated North Shore, while Manukau was third. The sum of was taken at the gates, and just over £ls was realised in fines from the mock court. The Max Jaffe Cup was presented to the Maori team by .Mr. ,J. The weather was fine and cool and there was an excellent attendance. Wakefield wyn the early scrums and attacked at a fast pace.
