ELECTION CANDIDATES
THE NATIONAL PARTY POSITION IN DUNEDIN [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN' DUNEDIN, Wednesday A report that the National Party had already selected its candidates to contest the Dunedin seats at the next general election is denied by the divi- • visional executive of the party. The selection of the Dunedin candidates, it was stated, is, in accordance with the constitution of the party, the responsibility of the executive committees in the electorates concerned, and is subject to the approval of the divisional executive and national headquarters. An official of the party declared that the party bad no intention of departing from this procedure, and added that, up to the present, no electoral committee had made its selection, it was hoped, however, that it would be possible to anounce the names of the candidates early next year.
