CYCLIST KILLED
COLLISION WITH CAR ACCIDENT IN NEWMARKET MOTORISTS CUT BY GLASS Injuries which proved fatal three hours later were suffered by Mr. .Tames Michael, aged 61, widower, of 6 Roxburgh Street, Newmarket, when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a motor-car near the junction of Gillies Avenue and Eden Street, Newmarket, about 4.15 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Michael, who was a qiiarrvman, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital with head injuries, "and died early in the evening.
Mr. Michael was cycling home when the collision occurred. His machine and a motor-car driven by Mr. Alfred Patten, farmer, of Waiuliu, collided, and the cyclist was thrown heavily against, the ear, and then to the ground. He was taken to hospital in a St. John ambulance.
Both Mr. Patten and a passenger who was riding in the front seat of his car, a small model, were slightly cut bv glass from the broken windscreen. They, did not require medical attention. ~ An inquest concerning Mr. Michael s death will be opened to-day by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt.
