There was a good demand for all classes of | cattle and young pigs at the sale held at | Wellsford by Alfred Buckland and Sons , Limited. There was a good attendance of local ; and outside buyers, and practically the whole : yarding was sold under the hammer. Young pigs were sought for by many , buyers, good weaners bringing from 15s to 10s, according to size and quality, while slips brought up to - J7s. The advertised pedigree Jersev bulls from Mr. Coulter, le Aral, sold to a strong demand, 30gns being paid by Messrs. Bradley Bros., Helensville, for a wellbred three-year bull, while Mr. h. R. Becroft, Port Albert, paid 'J'Jgns for a two-year-old. Yearling Shorthorn bulls from Mr. 1. AlacPherson, Wellsford, sold up to 13gns, while grade bulls, both Jerseys and Shorthorns brought good prices. There was only a smalt yarding of dairy cattle. Good bhorthorn heifers, due early, brought up to £7 15s, but backward and poor animals were taken for run cattle. All fat and killable cows and heifers were in good demand, a mediumweight fat Shorthorn cow realising £0 15s, while a fat heifer brought £8 ss. Boner cows were taken by exporters at recent rates. Any fresh-conditioned empty store cows were in demand by local graziers. Jersey yearling heifers were in demand by local farmers, as there has been a big loss in dairy cattlo during the past season, large numbers having to be culled from dairy herds as being unprofitable or unfit to milk. Dalgety and Company, Limited, reports having held the monthly stock sale at Putaruru, when a full yarding of all classes of stock came forward. All offerings sold well at late, ruling rates, and practically a total clearance resulted. A medium yarding of dairy cattle cam? forward, and prices realised were firm on late rates. A number of pedigree Jersey bulls made up to 25gns. A medium yarding of fat pigs was received, with a full yarding of stores. A lack of growth, together with late. high, westerly winds, accounted for buyers showing little confidence.
