DIVORCE PETITIONS
TWO DECREES GRANTED Two divorce decrees were granted in undefended cases by Mr. Justice Reed in the Supreme Court yesterday. Alleging desertion nine months after their marriage, James Robert Rickards (Mr. Harrison) sought divorce from Mabel Ellen Enid Rickards (Mr. Turner). Mr. Turner said his instructions were that the respondent could not. afford to proceed with her petition, and he was granted leave to withdraw her answer.
The petitioner said they wero married in January, 1923, and his wife went away from fiome twice that year. In October,' 1923, after she had been in hospital, she refused to return, although he had a homo for her. Ho had not seen her since.
Remarking that the position was not altogether satisfactory, His Honor granted a decree nisi. The petition of Linda Florence Hyde (Mr. Robinson) for divorce from Albert Ward Hyde was based on allegations of adultery against him. The petitioner said they were .married in December, 1928, and had two children. In June. 1936, they agreed to separate for » time, and she had since bad a letter from her husband in Wellington admitting misconduct. Her husband had been co-respondent in divorce proceedings, at which a decree nisi was granted by the Court a few weeks ago. A decree nisi was issued.
