STOCKS AND SHARES

{THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE

BRISK TRADING CONTINUES

The particularly active conditions Wliicli ruled on the previous day were maintained on the Auckland Stock Exchange /yesterday. However, the weakness throughout the investment market was more marked and losses far outnumbered gains. Sellers of '(Jovernment loans came forward more freely, while local body debentures continued to be transferred readily. There was a tendency of holders /of banking issues to lower their limits, but buyers did not appear interested. Tn spite of a further rise jn offers for South British Insurance, sellers again held oil. The greater proportion of business was done in the miscellaneous industrials, where the depressed conditions were more noticeable. Gains were confined to Tatterstields. Australian issues showed marked weakness, particularly metals, which'suffered an all-round setG. «'• Coles and Anthony Hord'erns also were marked down. The losses suffered by Dominion industrials were not so heavy. .New Zealand Farmers' Fertilizer dropped back jn two sales, but the majority of other issues maintained late rates.
