BOAT HARBOUR

EXTENT OF FACILITIES

WORK AT ST. MARY'S BAY DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED Disappointment at the work to be carried out in connection with tiie forming of St. Mary's Bay boat harbour is expressed in the annual report of the Auckland Yacht and MotorBoat Association to be presented at the annual meeting oil October 19. •" No plan of tbe area proposed to bo dredged is at this time available," states the report, " but it is anticipated that little, if any, of the present mooring area will be dredged, and that when the work is completed there will be avnilablo accommodation for about 25 craft with a minimum of 14ft. at low water spring tides and about 150 craft additional with 6ft. at low water. " This is very disappointing to the association, which had nil along understood that almost the whole of the area inside tbo protecting wall would be dredged to provide accommodation for about 650 craft of various draughts. The lack of adequate facilities for safe anchorage, hauling-out, etc., will shortly bo aggravated by the alienation of the Mechanics' Bay area, part of which has already been lost.

" Once the export wharf, now nnder construction, is completed," the repoit continues, "little, if any, of this area will be available for moorings. 1 he association must continue to press the Auckland Harbour Board for the completion of the St. Mary s Bay boat harbcJur, and the creation of further yacht harbours warranted tlie rapidly growing pleasure ileet.
