LIVELY INTERLUDE
MAYOR AND COUNCILLOR INCIDENT AT TAKAPUNA There was a brisk interlude at a meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council last night, the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, engaging in a lively argument with Mr. W. M. White. The matter under consideration was the granting by the borough inspector of a water connection from a temporary main to a house in Blomfield Spa.
Mr. Guiniven said he had instructed the inspector not to grant permission for the connection.
Tho inspector, Mr. H. P. Collins, denied this, stating lie did not remember receiving any instructions from the Mayor.
Mr. Guiniven: It is a very convenient thing to be able to forget. Mr. White: I move that those words be taken down. Mr. C. L. Clifton: I second that.
Mr. Guiniven: I cannot take the motion. It is not on the standing orders. Sit down. The council then considered another matter, during which Mr. White rose and read an extract from the standing orders, but the Mayor ruled him out of order.
