CRUISE BY LEITH
VISIT TO WH ANGAREI HAURAKI GULF EXERCISES On a visit to Whangarei, the Imperial escort vessel Leith is scheduled to leave the Devonport Xaval Base at eight o'clock this morning. She will remain at Whangarei until Monday and "will carry out exercises in the Hauraki Gulf until October 14, when she will return to Auckland.
The Leith, which is commanded by Captain L. C. P. Tudway, will continue her itinerary to the end of the year as follows: —October 17 to 23, Hauraki Gulf, with members of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve for mine-sweeping operations; October 23 to November 29, Auckland, for refitting; November 29 to December 8, Hauraki Gulf, for exercises; December 9 to 14, Tauranga; December 15 to 21, Gisborne; December 22, Auckland. In January the Leith will probably make her first visit to South Island ports.
