LOCAL COMPETITIONS

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS COURSES FAVOUR LOW SCORING Conditions on local golf courses during the week-end were ideal tor low scoring. By defeating W. X. Abbott by 2 up. H. D. Wright entered the semifinals of the senior championship of the Auckland Club. In the intermediate division B. IX Armstrong and C. P. Hoadlev leached the final by defeating V. W. Wilson and J). A. Hurt respectively. A Stableford bogey ( event, staged by the Auckland Club, was won by A. M. Howden with a total of 3G points.

In the final of the I*jllifTe Cup contest played at Maungakiekie, D. Schnauer defeated K. G. Aloflill by 5 and 3 over 36 holes. W. Caldcnvood reached the final of the club championship by defeating L. B. Schnauer at the 19th. In a medal handicap G. Bennett, with a net score of 71, was successful in the A grnde. In the B grade D. M. Rae returned an excellent net card of 65.

In a Stableford bogey event played at North Shore, D. Re id won the senior division' with a total of 37 points. H. Ibbertson's total of 36 was the best returned by a junior. D. Coyle defeated C. Kidd by 3 and 2 in the second round of the Akarana Club's championship. G. Coltman won easily from A. E. Saunders.

In a medal handicap played on the Mount Roskill links, A. S. Jamieson returned an excellent net card of 65.

A medal handicap was played in two grades at Glendowie, J. E. Stedman winning the senior division with a net

score of 71 after a count-back with H. J. Aitken. N. Hardley returned a net 68 to win the junior grade contest.

G. C. Tollerton, with a splendid total of 44 points, won a Stableford bogey event staged by the Titirangi Club. Jn the B grade inter-club contest Maungakiekie defeated North Shore by seven matches, and Glendowie had a narrow victory- over Otahuhu.

PLAY AT MIDDLEMORE

CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES Play in the championships of the Auckland Golf Club was continued at Middlemore on Saturday. Ideal conditions prevailed. R. D. Wright beat W. N. Abbott, 2 up, in the club championship, which has now reached the semi-finals. E. S. Toogood will play B. G. Thomson and R. D. Wright will play H. B. Lusk. ]n the intermediate event the semi-finals were played, B. B. Armstrong defeating V. W. Wilson, at the loth, and C. P. Hoadlev defeating £>. A. Burt, 4 and 3. In the semifinals of the junior championship, A. S. Gray beat J. L. Blackmore, 5 and 4, and V. E. Masters heat E. W. Friedlander, 2 and 1.

The final of the George Cup competition was decided. W. Wilson defeating J. F. Brown. 4 and 3.

A Stableford bogey match was also plaved, the winner being A. M. Howden with a score of 27, 9 —/>O. Other good scores were:— V. E. Masters, 25, 10—35; J. X. Peart, 23, 11—34; C. H.
