THE STAR ATTRACTION MATCH BETWEEN VISITORS SUCCESS FOR MISS HUTTON [by TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] v. NAPIER, Saturday The match between Miss Kernot and Miss Hutton was the star attraction of the day. The first three holes were halved in o, 4, 5. At the fourth Miss Hutton lay three inches from the hole with her second and Miss Kernot, in playing the hole, knocked her opponent's ball in to give her a 2 and a win. The fifth was'also won by Miss Hutton in 3 to 5, Miss Kernot finding a bunker with her second. The next three holes were halved in 4, 3, 5, but Miss Hutton took the ninth in 4 to 6 to stand 3 up at the turn. The 10th also went to Miss Hutton in 4 to 5. This was followed by two halves in 5 and 4, making Miss Hutton 4 up and 6 to play. Miss Kernot then made a marvellous recovery, win-

ning four holes in a row to square the match at the 16th. At the 17th Miss Kernot found a sand bunker with her tee shot, while Miss Hutton was on top of the green at the back. She putted first to within 30 inches of the hole. Miss Kernot played a full explosion shot from the bunker to within three feet of the pin 'and both putted out for threes.

At the 18th Miss Kernot drove a beautiful straight ball, while Miss Hutton's was slightly to the left, but 20 yards longer. Miss Kernot found a bunker again short of the green, but

was once more well out and on the green for 3. Miss Hutton made no mistake, landing on the green with her second well up to the pin and she holed out in 4. Miss Kernot required two nutts and so the match ended on the last green with Miss Hutton one up. Mi ss Hutton was out in 35 and home in 40, making her 75 for the round. Mrs. Alison made the best of her early opportunities and was four up after the first eight holes in her match against Miss V. Fleming, a low handicap player from Christchurch. Miss Fleming fought back and retrieved three holes before the 15th was reached. Mrs. Alison was rather fortunate in halving the loth after paying a visit

to the rough, but she made 110 mistake at either of the next two holes. The 16th was halved in 5 and at the 17th Mrs. Alison secured a well-played three. Miss Fleming overshot the mark with her approach and the match finished in Mrs. Alison's favour, 2 and 1. Mrs. Hollis was one up at the turn on Mrs. Newton. She was two up at the eighth, but got under a fence with her second approaehin»; the ninth and this cost her two strokes to got clear and seven for the hole.
