LATE DR. McDOUGALL

FINAL TRIBUTES PAID AN IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDANCE Final tributes were paid at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Lower Symonds Street, on Saturday afternoon to Dr. Neil McDougall, one of Auckland's best-known medical men, who died suddenly on Friday. Representatives of many organisations in the city, and friends gathered at the church where the Rev. P. Gladstone Hughes officiated. With him was associated the Rev. W. C. Wood, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board. "The services of the late Dr. McDougall were highly prized," said Mr. Wood, "and liis charming personal qualities endeared him to all." On behalf of the hospital board and staff, Mr. Wood expressed deep regret at the passing of one of the city's most valued citizens. The "Dead March In Saul" was played by Mr. E. S. Cranston. Members of the St. John Ambulance Association and Brigade and the Nursing Division formed a guard of honour at the church and also at the graveside. Six representatives from tiiese associations acted as pall bearers. Mr. C. J. 'funks, chairman of the executive committee of the St. John Ambulance Association, was present, accompanied by officers.

Among those at the church were: — The Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis; Dr. Lawrence Ludbrook, president of the Auckland branch of the New' Zealand Division of the British Medical Association; several prominent doctors; Mr. L. Munro, chairman of the Auckland Football Association; representatives of the Auckland Bowling Club, the Auckland Presbytery and elders and managers of St. Andrew's Church. The cortege from the city to the Waikaraka Cemetery at Onehunga comprised a large number of cars. An impressive graveside service was conducted by Mr. Hughes. After the ceremony members of the St. John Ambulance guard of honour filed past and saluted individually as a mark of respect. An exceptionally large number of floral tributes was placed at the graveside. A special memorial servico was conducted by Mr. Hughes at St. Andrew's yesterday morning. Reference to Dr. MeDougall's valued services to the church wore also made by the Rev. \V. Bower Black at the morning service at St. David's yesterday. Mr. Black expressed the sense of grief felt by the congregation and their sympathy with the bereaved relatives.
