SMOKING BAN PROTEST

NEWTON SCHOOLS COMMITTEE Protesting against tho ban on smoking by school toachers in or on school property, tho Nowton District Schools Committee last night expressed its faith in the conduct of the staffs under tho Auckland Education Board. It decided to ask for the privilege of smoking to he reinstated. It was decided to request the Minister of Education, the lion. P. Frasei, to introduce legislation for education hoards to bo elected by the common franchise of tho people, and to make fortnightly payments to all teachers instead of monthly, as at present.
