POSITION OF RAILWAYS [from ouk own correspondent] SYDNEY, Sept. 24 On his. return to Svdney from abroad, the .New South Wales Minister of Transport, Mr. Bruxner, will report to his Cabinet on the question of allowing the Railway Department to run its own air services.

While in England Mr. Bruxner paid special attention to the' operation of Railway Air Services, Limited, which is owned by the railway companies of Britain. It is operated in association with the railway services, rail and air tickets are interchangeable, and air tickets for this service can be purchased at railway booking offices. ■ The recent High Court ruling in the Goya Henry ' case establishes State rights in air transport within the State. At present most of the air competition is on the intcr-State routes.

Certain high railway officials favour the railways s being permitted to operate air services. Whether the services would be operated as a separate entity, by the Railway Commissioners or by private contractors, will depend ' upon the Minister of Transport's report. ' . . The enabling bill to validate the Commonwealth Air Navigation -Regulations, which will be brought before the State Parliament shortly, will emphasise the preservation of State rights. At present inter-State airline operators have to.obtain a route permit for the Transport Board.
