"RUNNYMEDE"
SEASON AT HIS MAJESTY'S The operatic drama "Runnymede," which will continue its season at His Majesty's Theatre to-night, is one of the most lavish and colourful productions of its kind ever seen in Auckland. Comprising a prologue and three acts, "Runnymede" tells the story of the events that led up to the meeting of the English barons, and how they forced King John to sign the historic Magna Carta. It is not merely a recital of cold historical facts, however. Dancing and singing, rich Court and banqueting scenes, and beautiful pageantry, all help to make the drama a warm and vital entertainment. The story concerns the adventures of the Earl of Winton, who was imprisoned by the king and lost his estates. Ho escapes, and is "instrumental in organising the barons into a firm stand against the king's tyrauny. The production ends with ft series of beautiful tableaux, in which many events in England's history are graphically depicted. Rooking arrangements aro advertised.
