YIELDS OF COMPANIEB Clutha River (Otago).—Week ended September 10, a total of 300oz. Molynoux (Otngo).—Fortnight ended .September 11, a total of oloz. for 242 j hours. Mataki (Murchison). —270z. from 9000 yards in 129 hours. Nemona (West Coast). —31oz. from 13.000 yards in 110 hours. Worksop (West Coast). —No wnsh-up. Waipapa Beach (Southland).—Soz. 14dwt. for 13:1 hours. NEWTON FLAT PREPARATIONS The Newton Flat Gold Suieing Company, Limited, which was registered in Auckland last year with an authorised capital of 1:12,000, has now suillcient shares applied for to begin operations on a river Hat on the Bailor River. The company proposes to commence operations by bringing the water on to the claim through an old water-race which was used some 30 years f ago to sluice a similar property about one mile away. The mine should bo in» working order about the Now Year. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Big River (Roefton). —For the period ended September !): Centre Stope—ln the north fuco the stone has faulted and is broken up with the reef track. In tile south end on the haniringwall branch there is about 2ft filn of stone. showing overhead and in the face. South block intermediate stope—The stope is opening up well and the haniringwall .slice is cominp over to join up with the footwal! branch. No. "> level south block —The stope lias been carried alonjf to the end and, while filling opened up Ifiii. of stone In the south face and started driving. Centre stope—'The stone, which is in small stringers and boulders, is carrying fair values. North-west crosscut —This was advanced to >ll ft through mixed reef track carrying some small stringers of quartz. Driving was then resumed in the nortn face and within lSin struck a reef track running at nearly riprht anirles to the drive. At present there is 'Jft Gin of stone showing overhead, and some fine gold can be seen. Owiiiß to the dry weather the dams became empty and i:ave had to pump water for the mine* plant. Owing to the shortage of water the battery stopped crushing oil September 'X A total if ~~Vi tons of htono wus delivered to the surface bins.

New treatment plant— Foundations for crude ore and mullock bins, also concrete work for tunnel and outlet house, complete. Steel work for mill building at sito. Assembly in lmnd Superstructures and mechanical work on niter plant well advanced.
