TAURANGA HUNTING
LAST MEET OF SEASON ROTORUA-BAY OF PLENTY CLUB [by telegraph—ovrx correspondent] TaURANGA, Monday The 1937 season of the Tauranga ward of the Hotorua-Bay of Plenty Hunt Club was brought to a close when members met at 'l'e Puna Hall. The day was beautifully fine and the hunting was enjoyed by a big field of riders. Man%" spectators from all parts of the district watched in cars from vantage points along the route. Prior to the commencement of the hunt the landowners over whose properties the hunts have been held were entertained by members at a breakfast. In proposing the toast of the landowners, the deputy master, Mr. .J. H. Evans, referred to the generosity of all those owners who had made their lands available for the sports The toast was enthusiastically honoured and acknowledged by Mr H. Grayling and Mr. R. Prior.
The hounds hunted over the properties of Messrs. Janson, Taylor, Sharplin, Tangitu, Snodgrass, Shroff and Allen. Afternoon tea was served in the Te Puna ladies' committee hall.
Among the riders were the following: —The deputy master, Mr. J. H. Evans, on Surefoot; the huntsman, Mr. A. Fenton, on Dick; the whip, Mr. F. Humphrvs, on King Silver; Messrs. A. Harper, "on Dodsworth; N. Heard, on Ramona; M. Ferston, on Waiatamoana; H. Sonimers, on Gay Sheen; A. Snodgrass, on Waikaraka; J. Armstrong, on Gvp; G. Fogertv, on Xero; G. Henry, on Grevbov; A. E. Putt, on Songstress; Anthony, on Simon; Kino, on Sure to Rise; N. Webb, on Homebrew; H. Ramsbotham, on Dandy; C. B. Roan, on Tim; C. Grayling, on Sportsman; C. Motintier, on First Lap; C. Tavlor, on Tomtit; Master R. Henry, on Corry; Master B. Evans, on Barney; Mrs. Roan, on Comet; Miss Wilberforce, on Toby; Miss Anderson, on Lena; Miss Palmer, on Brutus; Miss Hamilton, on Sox. y A dance was held in the Te Puna Hall in the evening.
