YOUNG FARMERS' CLUBS
HAY AND ENSILAGE TRIALS BAY OF PLENTY COMPETITION [by telegraph—own correspondent! WfLAKATANE, Monday During the past month the young farmers' clubs of the Bay of Plenty have been conducting hay and ensilage competitions. Certificates of merit are to be awarded to all successful competitors in yach club, while through the generosity of Mr. 1). S. Ross, president of the To Puke Agricultural and Pastoral Association, two special trophies have been made available for the best hay and best ensilage in the Bay of Plenty. The judge, Mr. C. Walker, Bay of Plenty instructor in agriculture, has just completed inspections in all districts, and on the whole he has found the entries to bo of a very high standard, especially in the ensilage class, where great difficulty was experienced in selecting the leading entries. The hav standard was not quite so high owing, no doubt, to the 'unfavourable haymaking season experienced last year. , Following are the results of the competitions:—Bay «f Plenty championship, hay: R.
