YOUNGEST SOLDIER
DEATH FROM WAR WOUNDS [by TEI.EC.RArn —OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday The death has occurred from'.war disabilities of Mr. J. A. Mills, who was claimed to be tho youngest New Zealander to serve in tho Great War. Mr. Mills enlisted at Gisborne at the age of 15. He looked older than his years, and by giving a false age he was accepted for service. Ho sailed with the 31st Contingent and did not let his parents know of liis onlistment until he reached England. He served in prance and was eventually invalided home. Unfit to follow his trade, lie was given. an outdoor position with the Borough Council, and was in its employ at tho timo of his death when on holiday in Cliristchurch.
