TIMBER WORKERS

A DOMINION UNION REGISTRATION APPROVED Advice has been received by Mr. F. Craig, secretary of tho Auckland Timber Workers' Union, that tho registrar of unions, Mr. E. B. Taylor, has approved of tho registration of tho Now Zealand Timber Yards, Sawmills, Box and Woodwork Factories' and Bush Workers' Industrial Union of Workers.

Tho Taranaki, Canterbury, Otago and Southland districts are excluded in tho meantime from tho new organisation, but it is irndprstood that they will link with it as soon as tho formalities have been completed.

The Dominion body was formed as a result of several conferences in Wellington, and the next step will be to proceed for a Dominion award. Action along these lines will probably bo taken about Christmas time, when the separate awards at present in existence will have expired. The Auckland Timber Workers' Union will now become a branch of the national body.
