COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS, VALUES GENERALLY LOWER HIGHER RATES FOR PORKERS [ifROM Ol'B OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A good yarding of ewe and wether mutton was penned at the Frankton sale to-day, the entry including many pens of finished sheep. Competition was good and the market fairly steady, although quotations w?re hardly up to last week's rates, the exception being prime ewes, for which prices showed no alteration. A full yarding of fat hoggets was entered, with graziers operating very freely., and it was noticeable that black-faced hoggets were not ,so keenly sought alter as Romneys. A full offering of ox beef sold under steady competition, but values were slightly easier than last week's high realisations, while a full entry of both cow and heifer beef showed a slightly easing tendency. A small offering of boner cows sold firmly at late quotations. A number of dairy cattle were also submitted and met with a ready sale, while a few pens of choice yearling Jersey heifers elicited keen inquiry, realising £o 10s.

A good entry of fat pigs came forward. Competition was keen, and prices realised for baconers were a shade easier than late quotations./ Porkers were in advance of last week's sale. There was a heavy yarding of stores and weaners. Good stores showed little alteration, while slips and weaners wero not so keenly sought after and prices were considerably lower than last week. A good yarding of sows sold under keen competition.
