NAVAL MAN CHARGED
CAR CONVERSION ALLEGED An English able-seaman from H.M.S. Leander, Allen Norton, aged 22, appeared'in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., charged with converting to his own 11, so 011 Tuesday a motor-ear valued at £4OO, the property of Sydney Tombs. Sub-lnspeelor Fox said accused was arrested early yesterday morning, inquiries were not completed, another car also having been; involved, so that there would probably be another similar charge'. A remand for n week was requested. A representative from the ship undertook to guarantee accused's appearance if hail in his own recognisance were granted. The magistrate granted the remand and bail of £IOO. Suppression of the name was refused.
