ASSAULT AND DAMAGE
FINE IMPOSED ON LABOURER As the result of an incident in an apartment house in Vincent Street on Monday night, James Meikle, labourer, aged 33 (Mr. Aekins), was charged with assaulting Thomas Martin and committing mischief by wilfully damaging a door to the extent of £1 10s, when he apjteared before Mr. W. 11. Mclvean, S.M., in tin Police Court yesterday The charges were denied. Sub-Inspector Fox said accused, who was under the influence of liquor at the time, kicked open a door, and assaulted complainant when the latter remonstrated with him. Accused had several previous convictions. Accused was fined £3 and costs, 12s, and ordered to make restitution and ,tako put a prohibition order,
