SECOND RUGBY TEST ALL BLACKS' CHANCES MAUNGANUI CRUISE PICTURES The prospects of a second victory for the All Blacks in Saturday's tost match against the Springboks are discussed in a series of exclusive articles which appear in the sporting pages of the current issue of Tiik Wkkkly Nkws, on sale to-day. 'lho similar circumstances of this week's game and the second test played the New Zealand and South African teams in 1921 are noted by Mark Nicholls, well-known international and a member of the Dominion selection committee. He mentions that, after the All Blacks' rather easy win in the first test of 1921, it was not thought possible for the Springboks to win the second game. But win they did, by nine points to five, and he adds: "The score would seem to indicate a close game. Such was.not the case. There was only one team in it — and it was not the All Blacks." Should the ground at Lancaster Park, Christchurch, be at all greasy on Saturday, he considers the South Africans' chances of winning will be remote. A dry ground, however, such as the Springboks had in the second test of 15)21, should make the game a memorable one. Discussing the Springboks' performance against South Canterbury last Saturday, The Wf.kkly Nkws special correspondent writes: —"Ou the whole, the Springbok forwards played raggedly, and in spite of the large score, the visitors cannot have been wholly satisfied with their display as a rehearsal for the test. It was significant that most of the scoring movements developed on the right wing as a result of fast, intelligent co-operation between Babrow and Williams. Next Saturday neither of them will find things so easy." Photographs taken during the recent Islands' cruise of the Maunganui appear on two pages of the main illustrated section. The pictures provide an interesting record of tropical scenery, native hospitality and passengers' activities. Further subjects include snapshots secured during play in last week's open amateur golf championships at Rotorua and photographs illustrating the progress of work on the Wharanui-Parnassus section of the South Island Main Trunk railway.
