OBITUARY

MR. W. H. MacKINNON EX-POLICE SUPERINTENDENT Mr. W. H. MacKinnon, for many years a prominent officer in the New Zealand Police Force, clietl at Palmerston .North on Saturday at the age of 75. The late Mr. MacKinnon joined the force in Wellington as a constable in 1879. After lengthy service he was promoted sergeant and transferred to Auckland, where he remained for three vears. He then went to AN ailn for Jne 'vears, when lie was promoted to seniorsergeant and returned to Auckland. \fter a period of 17 months he went to Christchurch as sub-inspector . but: two vears later was transferred to NNellinffton. While there he was promoted inspector. In 3923 Mr. MacKinnon was transferred to Palmerston North as superintendent, mid lie retired fiorn the force in 1926, settling in 1 ton North. MRS. A. E. Mollard, in his 77th vear. He had lived for some 20 vears'in the district. Mr. Mollard came to the Dominion iroin Cornwall an took up mining engineering. He ji j for nianv years in Auckland, and did outstanding work for various churches as choirmaster. 1« or 20 yeais he led the choir at Eden lerrace Methodist Church. After coming to Maungaturoto he acted as choirmaster of the Congregational Church. He is survivccl by two sons and one daughter. His died three years ago.
