THE ANNUAL MEETING FINE RECORD OF WORK A very fine record of work in alleviating distress was shown at the annual meeting of the Catholic Women's League, held in the league rooms last night. The president, .Mrs. M. Billing, presided. The annual report and balancorshoet, which appeared ill the Hi'kalt) yesterday, was adopted. In her opening address, -Mrs. Pilling spoke of the loyal and willing cooperation which existed between tho members and convenors of tlic various branches, which had enabled such excellent and progressive work to be achieved during the year. She thanked all members for their efforts and tho splendid spirit in which they had carried out their work. Reference was made by Mrs. Pilling to the recent death of Mrs. T. <J. Buxton, a foundation member and a vice-president of the league. A brief address on the spiritual side of the activities of their organisation was given by Mousignor Cahill, chaplain to the league. to tho work of the president and appealed to the younger members to take an interest in the league and to fit themselves to carry on the work of the older members. On behalf of tho members Mrs. 1). P. O'Leary presented -Mrs. Pilling with a bouquet and a gift in appreciation of her leadership and willing work for the society. The annual reports from tho country branches, outlining the work of the year, were presented as follows: —TV ai~ uku, read by Mrs. A. Campbell; Gratia, by Mrs. Simieh; Tauranga, Dargavi lie, Matamata and To Aroha, read by Miss V. Walsh, the secretary. Officers for the year were elected as follows: —President, Mrs. M. Pilling; vice-presidents, Mrs. R. B. Cruiekshank, Mrs. .1). P. O'Leary, Mrs. H. Wright, Mrs. C. Stitchburv; honorary treasurer, Miss M. Ormond; secretary, Miss V. Walsh; honorary assistant secretary, Miss C. Cremen; council, Mrs. J. B. Callan, Mrs. W. Kemble, Mrs. M. Hackett, Mrs. E. Bell, Mrs. K. Keating, Mrs. E. Joyce, Mrs. K. Garland, Mrs. X. Main, Miss A. Bryant, Miss M. Kerr.
