BETTER FERRY SERVICE
CONFERENCE WITH COMPANY A further conference of the Birkenhead and Northcoto, Borough Councils with tho manager of tho Dovonport Ferry Company, Mr. A. E. Alison, was held last night to discuss the ferry service timetable. Tho Mayor of Birkenhead, Mr. E. J. Osborne, presided. Mr. Alison stated definitely that there was no prospect of additional passenger steamers being placed on tho Birkenhead-Northcoto run/ Tho timetable would have, to be run with the two boats how employed. After full discussion, tho only early alteration made in tho present timeta.ble was that tho 7.10 a.m. trip from Birkenhead should start at 7.15 a.m. A more frequent service was conceded after 10 a.m. and tho 3.55 p.m. boat from Birkenhead is to call at Northcote instead of going to Auckland direct. Tho conference! passed a resolution recommending that no further alteration bo made for twelve mouths.
