NEW MANAGING EDITOR MR. ERROL G. KNOX (Received August 29, 10.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 29 Mr. Errol G. Knox, who has held many important executive positions on Sydney newspapers, has been appointed managing editor of the Melbourne Argus. Mr. Errol G. Knox is the son of the late Mr. Joseph Knox. He was born on June 25, 1889 at Sydney. He entered journalism in 1910, after completing his education at Sydney University. He became editor of the Sunday Times and in 1914 toured the United States and Canada for that newspaper. He served in the Great War with the Australian Forces from 1915 and rose to the rank of Major on the air staff of the Royal Air Force, to which he was loaned from the Australian Flying Corps. He was made a member of the Order of the British Empire in 191 S. Since the war Mr. Knox has been news editor of the Daily Telegraph, Sydney, managing editor of the Evening News and associated publications, a director of Associated Newspapers, Limited, editor of the Australian Year Book and Newspaper News, and also of "Who's Who in Australia." -
