REMARKABLE EFFORT JOURNEY OF 143 MILES ) GREATER PORTION COVERED (Received August 20, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORE, Augnst 28 The legless swimmer Charles Zimmy, who started on Tuesday a swim of 143 miles down the Hudson River from Albany to New York, completed 100 miles shortly after he had been swimming 100 hours. He was travelling at a rate of two miles an hour. He dined on chicken broth, ham sandwiches, steak, coffee and ginger ale. The swimmer had passed the half-wav mark yesterday after battling against heavy tides. He sent a message to President Roosevelt saying: "I salute you from the waters of the Hudson."
