TANNAHILL MEMORIES Memories of Tannahill and His Scottish lyrics were featured by the Onehunga Caledonian Society in the Orphans' Hall on Saturday night, when Mr. D. Hay, senior chieftain, presided over a largo gathering of members. Among the visitors were Mr. and Mrs. D. McLaren, of the St. Andrew's Caledonian Society, Mrs. Potter and Miss Bradley, representing the Waiheke Caledonian Society, Mr. T. Kay, Mrs. Oruams, and Miss Laurie, of the New Lynn Society, Miss G. Downie, representing the Matamata Caledonians, together with a number of representatives of the newly formed Franklin and District Caledonian Society, all of whom were ceremoniously piped in by the society's piper, Mr. J. Cowper. The musical programme opened with the singing of "The Bonnie Woods of Craigielca" and "Will Ye no Come Back Again" by the _ society's choir, under the conductorship of Dr. James Kirkwood. followed by selections from Tannahill's compositions, sung by Mrs. D. McLaren and Mr. and Mrs. John Dickson. Mr. Kay contributed humorous monologues, and Miss Jessie McLachlan's pupils performed a number of highland dances. After supper, the programme included a number of oldtime Scottish dances together with a Monte Carlo waltz, which was won by Miss E. Hay and Mr. A. Frascr.
