E. WHITCOMBE'S WIN FINAL AGAINST HIS SON LONDON, August 27 Ernest "Whitcombo won the News Chronicle .CIOOO golf tournament with an aggregate of 209, a British record for a major tournament. S. L. King, 270. was second, and Eddie Whitcombo, 273, third . Interest in tho third round centred In tho duel between the Whitcombes (fathor and son). Eddio took the lead with a card of 07 to Ernest's 72, but Ernest (the father), with an amazing fourth round of 04, gained (ho victory. . . In tho opening round of the tournament King had a card of 03, a record ill British golf in a major tournament.
