MAYFAIR THEATRE
MODERN APPOINTMENTS ATTRACTIVE APPEARANCE The May fair Theatre, tho latest addition to Auckland's cinemas, was opened on Saturday. The Mayfair, which is under tho direction of Amalgamated Theatres, Limited, was formerly known as tlio National, which was closed down a week ago. Now that the work of modernising has been completed it is one of tho city's most attractive theatres.
The redecorating and refurnishing of the Mayfair was commenced only last Monday, and a considerable transformation has been wrought since them. The walls of the thoatre have been repainted in delicate shades of cream and fawn, picked out with green and gold.
The foyer now presents a greatlyaltered appearance, the walls and ceiling having been redecorated along striking modern lines. Two smart ticket offices have been installed and a sweet stall has been built in tho back foyer, New carpets have been laid throughout the theatre, while 1000 seats, luxuriously upholstered and of extremely comfortable design, have been installed in tho stalls and dress circle. The opening programme selected for the Mayfair Theatre was one of considerable merit, being headed by the attractive British production " Pa'gliacci," and audiences»at the theatre on Saturday were extremely largo at all sessions.
