GAS WORKS STRIKE
MELBOURNE SETTLEMENT . MELBOURNE. August 27 The terms of settlement of the Melbourne Gas workers' stay-in strike have been accepted by the Gas Employees' Union, and tho men have left the West Melbourne and South Melbourne works after a strike lasting 15 days. 'i The workers will resume but it. is not expected that there will be a restoration of a full pressure of gas for nearly a week. Tho terms of the settlement include a 3s industry allowance, an annual bonus system and a basic wage of; £3 16s. The men claimed 6s as an in-, dustry allowance.
