NEW CARGO SHIP
KAKAPO AT GLASGOW CHRISTENING ON MONDAY i ■ - UNION COMPANY VESSEL ; Another of the cargo ships being built; for the Union Steam Ship Company on the Clyde, the steamer Kakapo, of 2500 tons gross, will be christened by Mrs. Jordan, wife of the New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, when he pays an official .visit to Glasgow on Monday. The Kakapo follows the motor-ship Waiana, which arrived at Auckland from Glasgow in June. Other vessels under order to the Union Company are the Kahika, Wanaka, Korowai, Karitane, Komata and Kurow. Advice has been received at Auckland that the Kakapo will call at San Francisco in November when en route from Glasgow, but her arrival date here has not yet been announced. It is probable that Captain D. N. McLeish, formerly master of the Karu and later of the Kauri, will be in charge of the new ship. He, with Mr. A. A. Mclntyre, chief engineer, and Mr. S. V. Hart,' chief steward, left Auckland for Britain last month.
