Powell's Latest Role
It is difficult to believe now that William Powell was once a heavy, sinister menace. That was in liis early clays, before he formed the habit of that very provocative smile. Now he has sniiled his way into becoming about the most polished light comedian on the screen. With the fishing-scene in *' Libelled Lady," Powell almost became a lo\v comedian. Just to keep him on this side of slapstick, he will be a little more serious as a Polish spy, opposite Luise Rainer, in " Tho Emperor's Candlesticks."
