STAMPS
Half Fivepence—£3so! Three bisected " twopenny blues " \rbich have recently come to light are probably the rarest British stamps in tho world. The "twopenny blues" of 1840 share with tho "penny blacks" tho distinction of being tho first postage stamps. And while our ancestors were getting accustomed to them, someone who wanted penny stamps in a hurry cut one or two twopennies in half —and the post office passed tho bisected specimens. No twopenny blues treated like this have ever been found before, but fifteen bisected • ten-cent (fivepenny) American stamps of 1847 are known to exist and are worth between £125 and £350 each.
