NOVEL PLACE-CARDS

A party . table can bo made novel and effective, with these pretty placecards. Procure large walnut shells that have been cut in halves, inako sails from white water-colour paper and on these print the names of the guests. Dip some toothpicks in gold paint or lacquer, do the same to the walnut shells, glue the paper to the masts (gilded toothpicks), cut out some tiny pennants from coloured paper, and glue to the mastheads. Fasten tlie masts to the middle of the shells with a drop of sealing-wax. Now fill up the little boats with "conversation" sweets.
