ATHLETIC SPORTS

RUGBY FOOTBALL THE JUBILEE TROPHY SEMI-FINALS AT EDEN PARK GRAMMAR TO OPPOSE MARIST An- excellent entertainment should bo provided at Eden Park this afternoon when tho somi-finnls of the Auckland Rugby Union's senior competition for the Jubilee Trophy will be decided. The leading attraction will be between Grammar and Marist. These teams are likely to be very evenly matched, ns they'' both have solid and aggressive forwards and fast and clever rearguards, which throw the ball about at every opportunity. Grammar has improved considerably in recent matches and is,now one of the best* all-round fifteens in the competition. Marist. however, should give a good account of itself, and there is likely to be little between the teams at the final whistle. University, outright winner of the A section, will meet North Shore in the curtain-raiser, which is also expected *to prove a first-class exhibition. University has been materially strengthened in recent matches, and on its present form,- is now perhaps the best, side/in Auckland. It is likely, however, to be fully extended by the young and bustling North Shore fifteen, in spite of the latter team's lapse against Grammar last week.
