THEFT FROM CHINESE
WOMAN'S MANY OFFENCES "Accused has a rather formidable list of convictions for theft and vagrancy, extending over 15 years, and she is a regular associato of Chinese," said Detective-Sergeant Walsh, in prosecuting Mabel Stout, domestic, aged 44, in the Police Court yesterday, on a, summons charge of stealing a gold watch from a Chinese at Avondalo on July 31. Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., said ho felt disposed to give accused a chance on probation for 12 months, on condition that she took out a prohibition order and made restitution of £1 to the pawnbroker to whom she sold tho watch.
