RELIEF ADMINISTRATION

CRITICISM BY UNEMPLOYED NO CONFIDENCE IN SYSTEM While it was stressed by speakers that there was 110 suggestion of passing a no-confidence motion in the Government the present policy of administering unemployment relief was the subject of a critical resolution adopted at a meeting of 50 members of the Auckland Metropolitan Unemployed Association in St. Alban's Hall, Brixton Koad. The I?ev. A. J. Greenwood presided. The resolution read as follows: "That this meeting passes a vote of no-confidence in the Government's present policy toward the unemployed and their dependants in relation to its administration of unemployment relief funds; that it condemns the fourmonthly scheme, subsidised works and the State Placement Service; that it is of the opinion that the unemployment funds should be distributed evenly among the unemployed as a whole; that this meeting expresses no confidence in the Government's policy in regard to invalid, old-age and returned soldiers' pensions, payments to people 011 charit-able-aid work and all those not receiving an adequate wage. "Further, this meeting is convinced that the national health insurance scheme is a 'red herring' to bo used as a bait at the next election and that it thoroughly disapproves of the system used in iiifiuiring into the condition of the unemployed."
