BRITISH DRIVER'S ATTEMPT DEPARTURE FOR AMERICA LONDON. Aucust 20 The ■well-known British racing motorist Captain George Eyston has left for America to attempt to make a world speed record on the salt flats of Utah. With his specially built racing car he hopes to achieve a maximum speed of 860 miles an hour. Captain Eyston's car is streamlined, 36ft. long, and equipped with two 13000 horse-power engines. The tyres cost £IOO each. The car has four front wheels, all connected with the steering, and twin rear wheels, also special brakes cooled by a huge centrifugal fan. The present record, a fraction over 801 miles an hour,' is held by Sir Malcolm Campbell.
