CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
NORTH ISLAND TITLE SUCCESS OF G. GROOME [from oxm own correspondent] MORRINSVILLE, Thursday The North Island clay-bird shooting championship was contested this afternoon at the Morrinsvillo Giin Club's grounds, the winner being G. Groome, of Hastings. There were 51 competitors and tho weather conditions were porfect. Only three men shot the possible of 21 birds, these being I>. P. North (Whangarei), G. Groome (Hastings) and P. L. •Toblin (Wairoa), who divided first, second and third money and then shot off for the title. Groomo won on tho eighth bird, Joblin missing his eighth and North the fifth. The following competitors shot 20 birds:— T. P. Wells (Cambridge), T. Duncan (Huntorvillo), Brotherton (Ohakune), R. Maher (Ohingaiti), S. G. Glennio (Gisborne), C. P. Wcbbor (Morrinsvillo). Groomo has won the Now Zealand championship four times and the North Island title twice previously. Tho stake for a handicap match of six birds was divided by M. Pratt (Otorohanga), W. Oatos (Tokomaru Bay), C. P. Webb (Morrinsvillo), R. Symonds (Taihape) and W. O'Kano (Hamilton).
