CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES COMPETITION IN A GRADE

Auckland's leading badminton players wero scon in action last evening at tho Colonial Motor Company's Building, Sehvyn Tcrraco, when a start was mado with the A grade championships. In tho men's singles, matches went in accordance with generally accepted form, although some of the stars did not have matters all their own way.

Ono of tho best matches of tho evening was played between H. Brock and P. Anderson, tho lattor gaining tho verdict by only one point in tho third gamo, after tho servico had changed hands several times. Ia the men's doubles, Wilson and Weir, (ho titloholders. dropped a gamo to Dallimoro and Speed, but wero on top in the deciding game. An excellent doubles was played between 11. Fow and R. Lewis and J. Lewis and Shale, all four players showing to advantage. Results wero as follows: — Men's Championship Singles.—First round: M. T. Wilson beat J. Colledgo, 15—2, 15—7; R. Hull beat 11.
