DRANK STOLEN BEER
SIX YOUNG MEN FINED KEG TAKEN FROM PARKED CAR [from our own correspondent 1 WAICKU. Thursday A three-gallon keg of beer which was stolen from tlic car of a country resident while it was in the yard of the Waiuku Hotel on the afternoon of July 31 shared by a party of six young men iii an alleyway off Bowen Street, Waiukij, that evening. Constable M. G. Pretiousi came on the scene and took possession of the keg. The. six men were prosecuted in tho ■Waiuku Police-Court, before Air. F. H. Levien, S..M. ' Norman Godfrey Hone, labourer,; of Waiuku, was charged with tho theft of the keg and with illegally selling liquor. .). Sommerville, G. L. Braun, T. Crosby, A. Hone and K. Miller were charged with aiding and abetting N. G. Hono. N. G. Hone admitted taking the keg to' tlic.. others, and saving that lie liad f: found it. The others joined him in drinking front'the keg, and afterward contributed 2s Gtl- toward tiie cost of the beer. This money had since been handed to the constable. Fines and costs totalling £5 10s were • imposed on N. G. Hone. Tlio others were each fined 10s and costs, 10s.
