TE PUKE SCOUT RALLY
BOYD CUP COMPETITIONS [by TELEGRAPH—OW>" correspondent! TE PUKE, Thursday Adverse weather considerably marred the sixth annual scout rally held at Te Puke yesterday. Thero was a full] attendance from other centres and the programme of events was completed, the scouts' events taking place in the McDowell Hall and the brownies and cubs utilising the Parish Hall. The scouts demonstrated first-aid in the hall during the afternoon, and signalling and knot tying competitions under the shop verandas, attracting many spectators. The visitors were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. Ben Keys, and the commissioner, Mr. F. N. Christian, who addressed the scouts. Results of the various competitions are as follows: —Inspection: Te Puke, 20 points, 1; Tauranga, 19, 2; Opotiki, 16, 3; Paroa, 14, 4. Knot tying: Tau- • ranga and Te Puke, 24, equal, 1; Opotiki, 23, 3; Paroa, 22, 4. Signalling: Te Puke, 25, 1; Opotiki, 24, 2; Tauranga, 23, 3; Paroa,, 23, 4. First-aid: Paroa, 19, 1 ; To Puke, 18, 2; Opotiki, 17, 3; Tauranga, 14, 4. Boyd Cup: Te Puke, S7, 1; Tauranga, 80, 2; Opotiki, 80, 3; Paroa, 78, 4. The Cubs' competition for the trophy shield was won by Tauranga with a total of 69.
