~ • FURTHER- SCATTEKED RAIN HEAVY FALLS IN NORTH Tho weather report and forecast fop New Zealand, issued last evening bv the Government meteorologist, were as follows: —An anti-cyclone is passing away eastward of the South Island 1 while a depression of moderate in. tensity covers the Eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand, its centre being west of tho Auckland Peninsula. The forecast is for moderate to strong north- 4 easterly to easterly winds, changing later to south-easterly or southerly. Seas rough between Castlepoint and East Cape, moderate on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere rather rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh winds between north-east and south-east, with moderate to rather rough seas. The weather is likely to ' : be mainly fair to cloudy on the west coast of the South Island, otherwise, still cloudy to overcast with much mist or fog in places; further scattered rain is probable in most districts and some heavy falls in the northern and northeastern portions of the North Island. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST RAIN, HEAVY IN PLACES The Government meteorologist issued to the Hf,rat,d last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to strong northeast to • northerly winds, changing temporarily to southerly. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Generally fine weather, with isolated showers, was experienced yesterday. After a clear morning conditions became cloudy in the late afternoon and evening. The barometer fell slowly and registered 29.91 in. at o p.m. Dunedin.—'There was a light* to moderate north-easterly wind, and misty conditions prevailed on the hills surrounding the city. The sun shone in the morning, but the sky was overcast in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees and the barometer fell to 29.95 inches.
