RISE IN KAIKOHE RATES

ADMINISTRATION OF RELIEF [by telegraph—own- correspondent J KAIKOHE, Wednesday A decision to increase the rates by ljd, making a total of 9 13-16 d in the pound, was made by the Kaikohe Town Board last evening. The chairman, Mr. W. Shaw, explained that the increase was attributable to tho heavy expenditure in the administration of unemployment relief works, and the sharp rise in the hospital levy. ApproxK mately £16,000 of unemployment money had been expended on improvements in the town district during tho vear. it was considered that the town had received good value, and Mr. Shaw stated that Kaikohe was still the lowest rated town board in the North. «
