Michael Gromoff took off to-day on another non-stop flight across the North Pole to San Francisco. With M. Gromoff as assistant pilot was Major A. Yumasheff and as navigator, M. S. Daniline. A perfect start was made from a suburb of Moscow. The fliers will attempt to break the world record on the flight. Tho journey is expeccted to last three days. It is a single-motored aeroplane weighing 11} tons and carrying 7i tons of petrol. M. Gromoff established a world record endurance flight on a closed circuit, flying solo, of 75 hours in 1934. He specialises in testing aeroplanes. He is 158 years of age and holds all the Soviet honours. He has piloted Maxim Gorki.
